At the heart of my endeavors lies my profound involvement with Leaving Records, a visionary experimental all-genre record label based in the vibrant musical landscape and my hometown of Los Angeles, CA.
With a free, donation-based event, “Listen to Music Outside in the Daylight Under A Tree”, the intention is in the title. Label leader Matthewdavid first ideated these binaural bimonthly events to blend gentle sounds against the backdrop of nature instead of dark, clanking bars. During lockdown, the event transformed into “Listen To Music Safely In Your Home Next To A Fern”, and since its monthly return to the park, has experienced meteoric popularity as humans crave to be in space with one another again.
Epitomizing principles of creative community building, we have sowed camaraderie in public outdoor spaces for over 6 years, and the event has been covered by both The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times.
While in the uncertainty of lockdown, I co-founded GENRE, a community-driven experiment powered by blockchain. We are exploring tools to construct new support roles as a label through curation, attribution, reputation, and mycelial-inspired economics.
